How astrocartography helped me find my next home
When I was preparing to leave Denmark in 2020 after ten intense, transformative years on my Pluto line, I found myself caught in the kind of decision-making fog that so many people feel when they’re on the verge of a big life transition.
I knew it was time to move on - but I didn’t know where to go next.
Two places stood out, each pulling at me in very different ways.
Portugal was one such option, and it had been part of my story for years.
It first entered my life when I was 17, through the pages of the book Night Train to Lisbon, then came friendships with Portuguese people, and later a long-term relationship.
There was a warmth there, a sense of familiarity and spiritual comfort that lingered in relation to Portugal, even after the relationship to my ex had ended.
It felt exactly like a South Node (spiritual comfort zone, past lives) in the 4th house (home, roots, family, ancestors) kind of a location - safe, homey, familiar, and deeply magnetic in the way nostalgia often is.
And then there was Estonia. A country where I wasn’t born, but where I grew up, and where I’d never truly felt at home in.
A country that stirred up all kinds of wounds around belonging.
I was terrified of what it might mean to move back.
Either way, I had no job lined up. No plan.
Just this deep sense that change was necessary - but no idea which direction to trust.
This is when astrocartography entered the picture.
I had only just discovered astrocartography, and I was still learning to read my map.
But even in the early days it helped me put words to what I was feeling.
For the first time, I had a framework to understand my attraction and apprehension towards the locations I’d lived in and was considering moving to.
I saw that Denmark was on my Pluto line, which suddenly explained why it had been so relentless - why it had broken me open, again and again, asking for transformation.
And I saw that alongside the challenges, Estonia also held my Sun line (among other things) - one of the happiest and strongest parts of my chart.
It offered a chance to shine in ways I hadn’t felt possible in years, and maybe didn’t know how to activate when I was younger.
So I listened to what astrology had to say because it resonated so deeply with my life experiences.
Even though Portugal was tempting in all the comforting, homey ways (and it still tempts me to this day) - it felt like returning to something I had already lived out on some strange level.
Estonia, on the other hand, felt like the unknown.
It didn’t make logical sense. It wasn’t the easier option. But I trusted the invitation.
And almost immediately, things began to shift after I landed.
Opportunities found me through a simple Facebook post.
I met my future husband 3 months in.
The deep heaviness I had carried for so long started to lift.
It was quite frankly incredible.
But this isn’t a story of a perfect move.
Because after the initial glow came the challenges, too - my Mars, Saturn, and retrograde Jupiter lines - all began to show up in my experience.
But this time, I didn’t feel lost. I wasn’t spinning in confusion.
I knew exactly what energies I was working with, and that awareness gave me something I’d never had before:
Agency.
That’s what astrocartography offers.
Not a guarantee of ease, but a deeper understanding of what a place is here to teach you - so you can stop feeling like life is just happening to you and start co-creating with it instead.
So if you’ve been stuck in indecision - if you’re afraid of making the wrong move, or wondering if the place that’s calling to you is truly meant for you - this is your reminder:
Your intuition already knows, and astrocartography can help you put words to it, so that any decision that you do make comes from an informed place.
